How to do cost cutting on a business trip!

Hey friends, today I will talk business, serious business. Being from a business class family I have always seen my father spending large amounts on business trips. Some of them give returns while others don’t. That’s why it has always been an issue of how to cut costs on business trips. When running a special business, in order to deal with the competitive market a businessman has to do business trips at regular intervals.  These trips could also be in the form of business events like trade shows or business conferences or for business meetings or workshops.

At many occasions you go alone for a business trip, but many a times you also have to take important staff members along with you. In such situations, the expenditure of business trips increases manifold reducing the balance of your annual budget. These trips are very helpful for the business as well as the workforce, that’s why they can’t also be ignored. But by cutting the cost of the trips a large amount can be saved. For this there need to make some changes in the behaviour of the people going for the trip as well as some in the whole procedure of booking.

Closeness should be considered: It is not necessary that for every trip you have the same representative. If you will select the same candidate every time, it will neither give exposure to other people nor will you be able to reduce the expenses. Here by cost cutting we mean that you can send such an employee to the business trip who lives close to the place of event. This will reduce cost as well as time.

Don’t take crowd along with you: When the question is that how to do cost cutting on a business trip, the one thing to be kept in mind is that, a lot of times people just go for entertainment in the name of business trip. And finally you have to bare all those enjoyment expenses. So, before sending people, you must identify who all are necessary to send for the trip and who can be avoided. Taking more people than needed not only increases the travel expense but also hotel expenses. This is an important issue to be considered.

Book air tickets in advance: When we book tickets in advance for flights, we can get them in quite cheap rates. This is also true for train tickets. So instead of booking tickets in a hurry or getting tatkal tickets for train, booking in advance can be a good way to cut cost for a business trip.

Look for alternates: Usually the total expenditure that is incurred to reach to the venue from the station or airport exceeds the total expense incurred on the flight or train fare. People prefer to take cabs after reaching airport or station, which increases the expenses. Many organizers provide the facility to pick and drop the company representatives. You can make use of them or ask for alternatives to the organizers themselves.

Make adjustments: When people are going to the same place and for the same cause, it should be possible for them share the resources. They can share the rooms as well as vehicles. These arrangements should be done prior to the trip so as to avoid disagreements later on.
