About The Book
It
is a story of survival of a South India boy on the Pacific after 227 days of
struggle. His name is ‘Pi’, which is a short form of Piscine Molitor Patel. He
is born in Pondicherry and is son of a zoo owner. Pi is basically a Hindu, but
his love towards God made him adhere to Christianity and Islam also. When he
was just sixteen, his father had to make a tough decision about moving to
Canada along with all the zoo inhabitants.
On
the way to Canada on Tsimtsum (the ship),
they encountered a ferocious storm which caused the ship to sink. Fortunately,
or you can say unfortunately, only Pi managed to survive on a lifeboat. But
along with him, there was a Hyena, an Orang-utan and a Zebra. Very soon Hyena
made other two his food. Already frightened Pi soon discovers that there is a
Bengal Tiger named Richard Parker also hidden in
the boat who made Hyena his bite.
The Life of
Pi is in danger now. But he somehow managed to tame the tiger and keep a
safe distance from him. After a challenging struggle of 227 days they reached
on a beach in Mexico. But to his distress Richard disappeared in the jungle. Pi
was found by officials whom he told his unbelievable story.
This
book, Life of Pi is a true fiction with spice of
practicality, spirituality and inspiration. In the boob, Pi is the narrator
telling his story from his childhood in India through to his journey to Canada.
The book was published by RHC in 2001.

Yann
Martel is a Canadian author who got fame from his fourth book, Life of Pi.
Spiritual and an animal lover by nature wrote many books in English. He keeps
