On Friday, 27th September 2013, in a landmark judgement by Supreme Court in the history of Indian Elections, SC has asked Election Commission of India to provide Non Of The Above (NOTA) option in ballet papers and button in Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
Voter has right to participate in negative voting(Right To Reject) if he finds none of the above candidate worthy for his/her vote.
Difference between voting for NOTA and not voting at all -
1. Repolling can be carried out if the percentage of the NOTA votes are more than the votes secured by any candidate.
2. Fake voting can be avoided as the voter's name is cut from the voter list even if he does NOTA.
