For a new you, spa massages!!

Ø  Thai Massage – This traditional healing massage of Thailand releases toxins and waste materials from the joints, muscles and connective tissue, and stimulates internal organs by applying gentle pressure on specific energy points. The massage is carried out on a mat or thin mattress, which is laid on the floor and the therapist, uses both their hands and feet to apply pressure to the client’s fully-clothed body.
A range of gentle stretching movements are also practised. The massage can last for up to 2 hours.

Ø  Ayurvedic Abhyanga Massage – India’s gift to the world. This is usually performed by one or two therapists using a heated blend of herbal oils that are believed to be based on the body’s dashsa. The aim is to loosen the excess doshas  through techniques such as kneading, rubbing and sqeezing. The feets are used in  chavutti thirummal,  a specialized technique where the therapist applies extra pressure using the feet.

Ø  Deep Tissue Massage – A massasge technique that focusses on the deeper layers of the muscle tissue to release the tension through slow strokes and deep finger pressure. It helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue and loosen muscle tissues, releasing toxins and allowing proper blood and oxygen circulation. Drink plenty of water after a deep-tissue session to help eliminate these toxins from the body.

Ø  Hot Stone Massage – Basalt stones of various sizes, shapes and weighted are heated to an ideal temperature to impart heat along the chakra centres. The hardness of the stones gives an ideal deep tissue massage and the heat from the stones relaxes the muscles and increases the blood flow to the areas being worked upon. The heat also adds in mental relaxation and stress reduction.

Ø  Swedish Massage – Originated in Sweden, the technique involves a sequence if movements working superficially and deeper into the tissue layers stimulating the skin’s natural functions thereby improving its condition. The warmth created helps the body relax both physically and mentally. The massage sequence is adapted to the client’s needs.

How To Select Books For Your Child!

Choose books that-
  • Have simple language.
  • Do not look cluttered.
  • Have big print.
  • Are convenient to hold.
  • Have big pictures.
  • Have something happening in them - a story, an idea easy to grasp.
  • Are about animals, birds, food, children.
  • Have rhyme and repetition.
Always buy books s/he can relate to.

How to read to your child-
  • Find a cosy spot. The child's bed, favourite corner, near a window, any spot that is bright and airy. It could even be your lap!
  • Allow your little one to choose what s/he wants to read aloud.
  • Explore the book by looking at the cover.
  • Let your child touch, feel and own the book.
  • Read aloud slowly.
  • Turn the pages slowly.
  • Allow your child to look at the page for as long as s/he wants.
  • Your child will start identifying pictures and ask questions.
  • Answer the questions patiently.
  • Repeat reading the book as often as your child wants.
A word of caution-
Read  the book before you buy it. Check if it-
  • Discriminates against any gender.
  • Makes fun of any physical disability.
  • Affects your own sensitivities in any way
It could influence your child for life!

Hey Girl, The New Year Resolutions You Will Wonder Why You Made!!!!

  1. I will get up early, eat a relaxed breakfast and work out before work every day. Seriously did you forget about that little thing called traffic?
  2. I will change my man and his annoying habits. SURE.
  3. I will ignore my boss's faults and I promise to love him/her. Okay, that's just funny.
  4. I will not bitch or gossip. Oh, do you know what the boss was wearing yesterday?
  5. I will not make snap judgements. Noble thought, near-impossible to execute.
  6. I will not drink during the week. Oh, come on!
  7. I will be super-organised and chalk out a plan and a list of things to do every morning. And I will follow that up with a list of the day's accomplishments every night. Yeah, and after that, I will bring about world peace too.
  8. I will learn a new sport, bring out my old music books, and develop star gazing as a hobby.
  9. I will watch and cheer with my man every time MS Dhoni makes a century. Watch out, this could be a deal breaker.
  10. I won't cry at sad and romantic movies. Wait, lets go for a movie.
  11. I will be a ray of sunshine and not be crabby at work on Monday morning. We really wish it was that easy.
  12. I will go organic and not use anything with chemicals and preservatives.Oh wait, does that include make-up too.
  13. I will not over-tip waiters, delivery boys, the valet, the newspaper boy...
  14. I will not fall for my maid's sob stories when she tries to justify that unannounced holiday last week.
  15. I will not kill time at the water cooler and wash-room at work. Sigh.

What is Big Data!

Big data is actually too much of data. It is large amount of structures and unstructured data which is difficult for traditional software tools to capture, curate, manage, and process. It ranges from a few dozen terabytes to many petabytes of data in a single data set. Big data may be in petabytes (1,024 terabytes) or exabytes (1,024 petabytes) and consists of billions to trillions of records of millions of people. Areas like meteorology, connectomics, genomics, complex physics simulations, and biological and environmental research usually have large data sets. It has become very difficult for organisations to manage big data. Big data is very important for businesses as well as society and has raised the need to reconstruct data management systems.
