Mobile Operating Systems(OS)!

Here is the definition of a mobile OS along with description of most famous ones.

A mobile operating system(mobile OS), is an OS designed to run on mobile devices such as mobile phones, smartphones, PDAs, tablet computers and other mobile devices. They are well equipped with features like a touchscreen, cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, voice recorder, GPS mobile navigation, video camera, camera, speech recognition, music player, Near field communication and Infrared Blaster.The mobile operating system is the software platform on top of which application programs can run.

    Google Inc.'s Android OS is free and open source. It has nowadays captured a large share of smartphone market. Its releases are nicknamed after sweets or dessert items like Cupcake (1.5), Frozen Yogurt ("Froyo") (2.2), Ginger Bread (2.3), Honeycomb (3.0), Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0), Jelly Bean (4.1) and KitKat (4.4). KitKat is the latest Android OS.
